Today we’re excited to share big news for canvas app makers: agentic authoring in canvas studio using your GitHub account is now available in preview!
In September, the canvas authoring agent plugin became generally available (GA), so you could build canvas apps from your own coding agent – GitHub Copilot CLI, Claude Code and more. But we heard from you that you wanted to use the agent right in canvas studio – no separation between the agent and the work. Now the power of that same agentic coauthoring comes right into canvas studio, where so many of you build every day! (Missed the GA news? Catch up here.)
Why you’ll love it
- Build where you work – the agent sits right beside your canvas.
- Use what you already have – your already existing apps, Dataverse tables, connectors and governance.
- It’s still a canvas app – you choose when to spend tokens or edit by hand, no rebuild required.
Work with the agent just like you would with your human teammates – assign tasks, ask questions, troubleshoot issues. The agent is particularly effective when helping on tasks that are complex or tedious to execute by hand. Need a change replicated in all the screens of your app? Just ask your authoring agent to do it!
Get started
Enabling the tenant setting in the Power Platform Admin Center adds the agentic authoring icon in the left rail for new and existing canvas apps. Log in using your GitHub.com account and you’re ready to go! Describe what you want, watch the agent form and propose a plan, agree or make changes, and it gets to work.
We can’t wait to see how you use agentic authoring to accelerate your canvas app creation and maintenance! Let us know what you think – use the built-in thumbs feedback to share your experiences!
